Dr. Rui Cao is currently an Assistant Professor at the Thrust of Urban Governance and Design, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) where he leads the Responsible Urban Intelligence (RUI) Lab. He is specialized in GIScience and particularly interested in GeoAI and Urban Informatics, with an ultimate goal of contributing to sustainable and human-centered smart cities for the benefit of society. He has published extensively on the topic of urban sensing and analytics based on multi-source spatio-temporal big data. He has led and participated in several research grants funded by NSFC, Microsoft, Tencent, etc. He is a member of ACM SIGSPATIAL, CCF, CPGIS, IEEE, and ISUI, and has served as a reviewer for NSFC and BELSPO grants, as well as many prestigious international journals. He served as the conference secretary for the Global Smart Cities Summit cum The 3rd International Conference on Urban Informatics (GSCS&ICUI 2023).
